A 50-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after human remains were discovered at a property on St Martin’s Road in Canterbury

The arrest occurred yesterday afternoon, following the presence of forensic officers at the scene

While the identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, police have informed the family of missing 65-year-old Jeremy Rickards. Mr. Rickards was last seen in the North Holmes Road area of Canterbury at the beginning of June and was reported missing on July 5.

The ongoing murder investigation is being conducted by Kent police detectives, and residents in the area should expect a continued police presence. Three houses on St Martin’s Road have been cordoned off with police tape as part of the investigation.

Police Statement

DI Louise Murphy from Kent Police’s missing persons team had previously mentioned that Mr. Rickards’ family had not heard from him for several weeks. The police have not confirmed if the remains found are those of Mr. Rickards, and further investigations are ongoing.
