Live updates reveal a heightened awareness of the situation, with the RNLI issuing a warning to the public regarding coastal areas during Storm Jocelyn. The charity emphasized the need for extreme caution, particularly in exposed cliff areas, seafronts, and piers, due to the strong gusts of wind and heavy rain associated with the storm.

Tim Doran, RNLI National Water Safety Partner, urged those planning to visit the coast to stay a safe distance from the water, considering the risk posed by the adverse weather conditions. He emphasized the dangers of cold water shock, especially when water temperatures are below 15°C, and encouraged individuals to follow the “Float to Live” technique if they find themselves unexpectedly in the water.

The RNLI’s safety advice includes staying well back from stormy seas and cliff edges, checking weather forecasts and tide times before heading out, and carrying a phone.

Footage posted on social media depicts a significant emergency service presence at the seafront, with helicopters overhead, police and lifeboat crews near the shore, and numerous police vehicles with flashing blue lights.

The search operation continues, and further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
