Merseyside Police are intensifying their investigation after an unidentified white substance was discovered in a park area near Childwall Valley Road, Liverpool leading to the hospitalisation and unfortunate death of several dogs.

The alarm was raised when a veterinary surgeon reported multiple cases of dogs falling ill, believed to be a result of ingesting the mysterious substance. Two dogs have tragically lost their lives, one remains in critical condition, and a fourth is currently undergoing treatment.

Chief Superintendent Jonathan Davies, has taken immediate action by initiating a comprehensive inquiry involving CCTV analysis, house-to-house interviews, and witness interrogations. Meanwhile, laboratory tests are underway to identify the nature of the substance.

The affected area has been cordoned off, and pedestrians are strongly advised to steer clear of the location during the ongoing investigation. Chief Superintendent Davies issued a statement, expressing concern over the incident but assuring the public that the situation is under control.

“While the incident is obviously of concern, I want the public to be reassured that the matter is being dealt with and is under control,” Chief Superintendent Davies stated. He urged people to avoid the area as authorities work to identify the substance and its origin.

Individuals who suspect they may have come into direct contact with the substance are encouraged to seek medical assistance promptly if they experience any adverse effects. Chief Superintendent Davies stressed the importance of reporting any unknown substances to the police without attempting to handle them.
