A sex offender from Whitstable, Graham Kemp, will serve an extended prison term after a new investigation revealed crimes dating back almost sixty years.
In May 2022, while already incarcerated, Graham Kemp, formerly residing on Gosselin Street in Whitstable, faced six new charges of indecent assault, one count of unlawful sex with a girl under 13 years old, and one count of rape.
Kemp, now 76, had previously been sentenced in 2018 to five years and three months in prison for a series of sexual offenses committed between the late 1990s and 2004. These offenses included indecent assault against a young girl and indecency with a child.
Following his initial conviction, additional victims came forward, prompting Kent Police to launch a complex investigation into reports of child sexual assault and rape dating back to the 1960s.
After a trial at Canterbury Crown Court, Kemp was sentenced to a further 21 years in prison on January 5, 2024.
Detective Constable Claire Baker, the investigating officer, stated, “Kemp’s despicable crimes have devastated the lives of multiple victims, and I am pleased that the severity of his offending has been reflected in this sentence. I’d like to thank the victims in this case who came forward so bravely, after so many years, and whose courage helped secure this further conviction. It is never too late to report a crime, and our dedicated team of officers will do everything possible to seek justice.
