Kellyanne McNaughton, 33, has been convicted after admitting to the culpable homicide of 54-year-old Michele Rutherford at a care facility in Stirling. The conviction was secured as McNaughton pleaded guilty during her appearance at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday, 8 January 2024.
Michele Rutherford, who was dedicated to her work at the facility on Craighall Street, suffered serious injuries shortly after 11.00 on Tuesday, 7 March, 2023. Despite being rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment, Ms Rutherford was later pronounced dead.*
Detective Inspector Scott Roxburgh, acknowledging the tragedy, expressed the profound impact of Rutherford’s loss on her family and others. He stated, “Michele Rutherford lost her life in tragic circumstances while at work caring for others. Nothing can change what happened, but I hope that this conviction can provide some degree of closure.”
