First picture of a young Italian man whose body was found in a wheelie bin in north London
This is the first picture of a young Italian man whose body was found dumped in a wheelie bin behind a Waitrose in north London. Detectives investigating the death of the man in Islington have named him as Erik San-Filippo. Police were called to Tollington Road, Islington, shortly before 4pm on Saturday, 11 May to reports of a man’s body found in a wheelie bin. Formal identification has been carried out and confirmed the deceased as 23-year-old Erik San-Filippo, an Italian national. Next of kin have been notified. A post-mortem examination has been carried out; this proved inconclusive and we await further tests. At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are being led by the Met’s Central North Command. A 52-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, 12 May on suspicion of murder and has been bailed to return on a date in mid-June.
