In a shocking incident, two Kent Police officers were seriously assaulted during an operation in Tunbridge Wells. The attack occurred when British transport officers responded to a call for urgent assistance after a male, who was wanted for an assault on an officer and a member of the public, arrived at the railway station.
The incident unfolded in a series of events that began in Battle, where it is alleged that the male had assaulted a member of the public, his partner, and caused damage to a bus shelter. During this initial incident, a Sussex Police officer was also assaulted, and the male fled the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident in Battle, Kent Police officers located and attempted to stop the male in Tunbridge Wells. However, during this encounter, both officers were subjected to a violent assault. One officer was punched and bitten, while the other was strangled. Both officers were subsequently rushed to the hospital, where they are undergoing tests and CT scans. Fortunately, their injuries, while serious, are not life-threatening.
The assailant was subsequently arrested by Kent Police in Tunbridge Wells, and detectives are now taking ownership of the investigation. Night-shift officers are providing essential support, both in terms of officer welfare and conducting CCTV inquiries at the scenes in Battle and Tunbridge Wells.
