Man convicted of wounding with intent in Aylesbury

A man has been convicted of wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article. Brenton Aherne, aged 34, previously of Chervill, Beanhill, Milton Keynes, was convicted of a single count of wounding with intent and two counts of possession of a bladed article in a public place at Aylesbury Crown Court on Tuesday (16/4). He was found guilty after a six-day trial. The charges relate to an incident between 9.45pm and 11.30pm on Saturday 17 October 2017 at The North Western public house, in Wolverton. Aherne was asked to leave the premises after he urinated on the floor, he then became aggressive and threw a glass bottle at a member of staff. He then drew a knife from his coat pocket and stabbed the victim, a 27-year-old man, before fleeing on foot. The victim suffered a non-life threatening injury and was taken to Milton Keynes University Hospital for treatment. He was released the same day. Aherne was located and arrested by officers the same day, and was in possession of two knives at the time of his arrest. Aherne was charged on 5 September 2018. He is due to be sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday 21 June.
