Teenager Charged Following Attempted Robberies in Sheerness

A suspect has been charged with a robbery at a Sittingbourne store. During the evening of 2 October 2023, three men entered a shop in West Street where it is alleged an employee was threatened and assaulted, and cigarettes and bottles of alcohol were stolen.

An investigation by officers from Swale CID led to the arrest of a suspect on Wednesday 20 December. Ben Bignall, of no fixed address, was later charged with robbery. He was also charged with failing to provide a sample for a drug test whilst in custody. The 40-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 22 December. He was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 19 January 2024.
