In a harrowing incident that has raised concerns about public safety, British Transport Police (BTP) are urgently seeking witnesses following an attempted murder at Leicester Square underground station. The incident, which took place on November 6, involved a man who tried to push a woman onto the tracks as a train approached.
The alarming event occurred at approximately 15:30 p.m., when the suspect, described as a male in his late 20s with a muscular build, was seen arguing with an elderly man. Dressed in a short puffer jacket and a beige scarf over his head, the man then turned his attention to a woman waiting at the platform. In a terrifying turn of events, he grabbed her by the arm and attempted to drag her towards the tracks.
The victim, whose quick reactions allowed her to momentarily break free, faced a second attempt by the assailant to push her onto the tracks as a train entered the station. Fortunately, two other passengers intervened, pulling her to safety. The suspect, taking advantage of the ensuing chaos, boarded the train and fled the scene.
This shocking incident has led BTP to launch an urgent appeal for witnesses. They are calling on anyone who was present or has information about the incident to come forward as soon as possible. This is a serious crime, and we need the public’s help to track down the individual responsible,” a BTP spokesperson stated.
