Air ambulance called after Man is shot in Canterbury

An air ambulance was called out after a man in his 20s was shot in the stomach at Godwin Road, Thanington, last night. The injured man was found in Oxford Road, Wincheap, around 10:40pm. The air ambulance was not needed and he was taken to hospital by road. Kent Police have issued the following statement:investigation has been launched by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate after a man sustained a serious injury in Canterbury. Kent Police was called by South East Coast Ambulance Service at 10.40pm on Thursday 19 July 2018 to Oxford Road in Canterbury.  The man in his 20s was taken via ambulance to hospital with an injury consistent with a bullet wound. No arrests have been made at this time. Officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to determine the weapon involved.
