A New Case Of Ebola Virus Infection Has Been Confirmed In The City Of Beni In Eastern Democratic Republic Of Congo

According to the country’s National Institute for Biomedical Research, a new case of Ebola virus infection has been confirmed in the city of Beni in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
On Monday, the announcement was made.
The World Health Organization had reported two days earlier that authorities were investigating a suspected case in Beni following the death of a 46-year-old woman who had displayed symptoms consistent with the disease.
The case was linked to the 2018-2020 outbreak in North Kivu province, which killed nearly 2,300 people, according to genetic sequencing, the institute said in a statement.
Ebola can sometimes linger in survivors’ eyes, central nervous systems, and bodily fluids for years before resurfacing.
The dense tropical forests of Congo are a natural reservoir for the Ebola virus, which causes fever, muscle aches, and diarrhoea.
There have been 14 outbreaks in the country since 1976.
