In a distressing incident earlier today, a man in his fifties was left with life-threatening head injuries after a hit-and-run on Boulton Middleway in Birmingham. Authorities were alerted shortly after 05:30 on October 21, when the victim was discovered at the scene.
West Midlands Ambulance Service responded promptly, providing crucial treatment before transferring the injured man to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. The victim’s condition is reported as critical.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, leading the investigation from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, stated, “At this stage, we believe the man sustained his injuries in a collision with a vehicle that failed to stop. We urge anyone with information, especially those who may have witnessed the incident or have relevant CCTV or dash-cam footage, to come forward.”
The incident is believed to have occurred just before Key Hill Circus, and DS Hughes added, “This is a busy stretch of road, and we know that several vehicles passed the scene. Witnesses or anyone with information could hold key evidence to help us reconstruct the events. We appeal to the occupants of those vehicles to contact us.”
Directly addressing the driver involved, DS Hughes emphasised, “I appeal to the driver of the vehicle – now is the time to do the right thing. The injured man is in critical condition, and his loved ones deserve answers.”
