Crimestoppers, the independent charity dedicated to preventing and solving crimes, is reaching out to the public for any information regarding a series of arson attacks on a property in Bristol. The charity is urging individuals to come forward anonymously with any knowledge they may have about the suspects responsible for these repeated incidents. In return, a reward of up to £2,500 is being offered.
The appeal follows an earlier release of CCTV footage, in which a man was seen near a business premises on Regent Street during a suspected arson attack that occurred on the 14th of February at approximately 11.25pm. The fire caused significant damage to the building, which also contains residential premises. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Despite efforts made by investigators since the incident, the footage remains inconclusive. However, authorities are hopeful that someone may recognise the distinctive olive green jacket worn by the individual and provide valuable information. The person in question is described as approximately 5ft 8ins tall, of average build, and wearing black jeans.
Crimestoppers, an organization separate from the police, is actively supporting the investigation by offering a reward of up to £2,500 for information that is exclusively received by the charity and leads to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the arson attacks on the Clifton business premises.
Karen MacDonald, Regional Manager at Crimestoppers, emphasised the importance of community collaboration in safeguarding against harm. MacDonald stated, “We all have to work together to help keep our communities safe from harm. Often, it’s the smallest piece of information that can be key to catching someone responsible for deliberately starting fires, which is why we are appealing to anybody who has suspicions or knows who is involved to come forward.”
Crimestoppers is aware that some individuals may find it challenging to communicate directly with the authorities. Therefore, the charity is providing a safe and anonymous platform for reporting information. MacDonald added, “We know that for some people it can be difficult to speak directly to the authorities, which is why our charity, independent of the police, is here to help.”
Crimestoppers operates 24/7, 365 days a year, and guarantees the anonymity of anyone contacting them. Reports can be made by calling 0800 555 111 or by completing the anonymous online form available on the Crimestoppers-uk.org website.
