Police Appeal After Thefts From Birmingham Tower Blocks
Police Appeal After Thefts From Birmingham Tower Blocks

Authorities in Birmingham are appealing for information following a string of thefts involving dry riser valves and copper pipework from tower blocks. These valves, essential for the fire service during emergencies, are believed to have been stolen for their scrap metal value.

The most recent incident occurred on October 5 at Essington House in Sladefield Road. To aid in the investigation, CCTV images have been released, showing a man suspected of involvement in the theft. The individual is described as approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, in his mid-50s, and wearing a high-visibility orange jacket.

Collaborating closely with Birmingham City Council and other partners, law enforcement has increased patrols in the affected areas to provide reassurance to the affected communities.

Authorities are urging anyone who recognises the individual in the CCTV images or has any information related to the incidents to come forward. They can do so by contacting the police via Live Chat on their website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 20/837508/23. Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously with the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111. It is important to emphasise that callers can remain anonymous and should focus on providing what they know rather than revealing their identity.
