Detectives are actively investigating a murder that occurred in Brixton, identifying the victim as 22-year-old Keelen Morris Wong. His next of kin have been notified and are currently receiving support from specially trained officers.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday, 3 October, when police received reports of a stabbing at Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, at 16:44 BST. Responding officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene, discovering Keelen, who had sustained a knife injury. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Keelen tragically lost his life at the scene.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled for later today (5 October) to further understand the circumstances of Keelen’s death. On the same evening as the incident, a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after presenting himself at a hospital. He remains under arrest while in hospital.
Detective Inspector Kevin Martin, from Specialist Crime, emphasised the severity of the daytime attack and urged witnesses to come forward, assuring confidentiality. He stated that while an arrest has been made and progress is underway, any additional information could contribute to the ongoing investigation. The motive behind the attack is still being determined.
DI Martin also addressed the circulation of videos related to the incident, urging the public to refrain from sharing them out of respect for the victim’s loved ones. Superintendent Gabriel Cameron, from the Central South Command Unit, expressed condolences to Keelen’s family, emphasising the shock felt throughout the community.
Crime scenes are currently in place as the investigation progresses, and officers are working to minimise disruption to motorists.
