In a somber turn of events, a 27-year-old cyclist, seriously injured in a collision in Hackney on 10 September, has succumbed to his injuries. The young man was initially rushed to the hospital for treatment but tragically passed away on 12 September.
His grieving next of kin has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers during this difficult time. A post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course to determine the exact cause of death.
The incident unfolded when officers responded to reports of a collision in Kenworthy Road, E9, at approximately 19:40 on Sunday, 10 September. The cyclist was struck by a car, which subsequently collided with another vehicle. The driver of the car, a 24-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving.
Currently on bail until early December, the driver awaits further enquiries as detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit diligently investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
