The Police Service of Northern Ireland has confirmed the death of a man following a single-vehicle collision on Pomeroy Road, Pomeroy . The incident occurred shortly after 11:30 pm on Friday, September 29.
Police received an initial report from a concerned passing motorist, indicating a man walking on Pomeroy Road towards Cookstown. While en-route to respond, a subsequent report revealed that the same man had been involved in a collision with a Citroen Berlingo van on the same stretch of road.
Despite immediate first aid efforts at the scene, in collaboration with other emergency services, the man was pronounced dead. The driver of the van sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The road was temporarily closed as investigators conducted inquiries at the scene but has since reopened to traffic. Authorities are now appealing for information from the public. They are particularly interested in details about a slim to medium-built man wearing dark clothing and potentially carrying a rucksack, seen walking on the road shortly after 23.15 BST
Individuals who were traveling on the Pomeroy Road between 23.20 and 23.45 on Friday are urged to review any dash-cam footage they may have captured and contact the police. The reference number for this incident is 1944 29/09/23.
