Police are seeking information from the public after a disturbing burglary occurred in Oakwood Road, Romiley, around 19.30 BST on Thursday, 28 September. During the incident, an 85-year-old woman was confronted in her home by a man who proceeded to assault her with physical force.
The victim, who suffered injuries from the attack, is currently receiving treatment. Fortunately, the injuries are not believed to be serious. The assailant, described as a male standing approximately 5’11” tall and wearing dark clothing, remains at large.
Detective Inspector Chris Aunins of Stockport CID expressed his concern over the shocking incident and assured the community that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the attacker. He stated, “This is a truly shocking incident, and our thoughts are with the victim as she recovers from this terrible ordeal. Our aim is to prevent any further serious incidents going forward as our main priority is to keep the public safe.”
Active lines of inquiry are being pursued, and additional patrols will be deployed in the Romiley area to enhance community safety.
