Drugs And A Suspected Firearm Have Been Seized As Part Of A Proactive Policing Operation

As part of a proactive policing operation, drugs and a suspected firearm were seized.

The discovery was made by the city north Operation Reacher team while carrying out a planned arrest in Bestwood.

Officers were called to a home on Queen’s Bower Road after receiving information that a known suspect was inside.

The suspect was apprehended at the scene, and the house was searched around 9 p.m. on Wednesday (27 July).

Soon after, a suspected firearm and Class B drugs were discovered inside the property.

After that, police conducted another search at a home in Lytham Gardens, Rise Park, which resulted in the seizure of suspected Class A drugs.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a permit and possessing Class A and Class B drugs with intent to supply.

He was also arrested on suspicion of other outstanding charges, including assault causing actual bodily harm, threats to kill, criminal damage, and a breach of the peace.

A 29-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a permit and possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply.

Both suspects are still being held by police.

This was a great piece of proactive policing by the city north Operation Reacher team, who showed tremendous patience while carrying out this arrest attempt,” said Detective Sergeant Katie Hurrell of Nottinghamshire Police.

By collaborating closely with our force intelligence and response officers, the team was able to seize a suspected firearm as well as a large quantity of drugs found inside two properties.

“As a force, we are completely dedicated to making our communities safer, which is why our Operation Reacher and other teams conduct searches of this nature based on any intelligence we receive.”

We do not believe there is any wider risk to public safety in relation to this incident, and two suspects have been arrested as part of this investigation.

Our investigations are still ongoing, so we’d like to ask anyone with information that could help us to contact the police on 101, quoting incident 22000434832, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
