A harrowing hit-and-run collision in Bristol has left a pedestrian in his 70s critically injured, with a 17-year-old male subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The incident unfolded on King Georges Road in Bristol at approximately 19.10 BST on Sunday, 24 September. The victim, a man in his 70s, suffered serious injuries in the collision, believed to involve a motorcycle. Promptly, police officers arrived at the scene and provided crucial first aid before paramedics transported him to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
In a significant development, a 17-year-old male was apprehended at a hospital later, suspected of being involved in the hit-and-run incident. As of now, the teenager remains hospitalised.
The investigation into this distressing incident is underway, with law enforcement conducting thorough enquiries, including house-to-house investigations and the review of CCTV footage. Temporary Inspector Sarah Knight has urged the public’s cooperation in this matter, especially in identifying potential witnesses.
“We believe the motorcycle may have had two people onboard at the time of the collision and therefore would publicly appeal for the second person to make themselves known to us. Enquiries to identify them continue in the meantime,” Inspector Knight stated.
Furthermore, authorities are keen to hear from two potential witnesses who were in the vicinity in a white 4×4 vehicle at approximately the same time as the collision. Although they were not directly involved in the incident, their information could prove invaluable to the ongoing investigation.
