Tragedy struck on the A92 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road on Friday, September 22, as a fatal collision unfolded, prompting a plea for information from road policing officers. The incident occurred at approximately 15.40 in the southbound lane near Nigg Way, involving a grey Nissan Qashqai and a black Honda 900 Fireblade motorcycle.
Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, but sadly, the motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead on-site. His next of kin have been informed of the tragic incident. The driver of the Nissan, a 59-year-old man, was examined by the Scottish Ambulance Service at the crash site but did not require hospitalisation.
In the aftermath of the collision, the A92 road was temporarily closed to facilitate a comprehensive crash investigation.
Sergeant Alexander Bowser-Riley, leading the investigation, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and emphasised that inquiries into the incident are ongoing. He called upon potential witnesses and those with dash-cam footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
Sergeant Bowser-Riley stated, “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died, and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.” He continued, “Anyone who saw what happened or who has dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation is asked to get in touch. In particular, we are keen to speak to anyone who may have been travelling on Anderson Drive in the half hour prior to the crash happening to contact us if they have footage or any other information.”
