Lancashire Police have initiated a murder investigation following the tragic death of a woman identified as Alison Dodds in the Redcar Road area of Blackpool. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 21st, when officers responded to a report of an unexpected death at 10:56am
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the lifeless body of a woman in her 50s, later identified as Alison Dodds. A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed that she had sustained multiple injuries, leading authorities to classify her death as suspicious.
Detective Chief Inspector Jane Webb, heading the investigation for Lancashire Police’s Force Major Investigation Team, expressed her condolences to Alison’s family and loved ones, acknowledging the tragic nature of the case. She further emphasised the commitment of the investigation team to uncovering the circumstances surrounding Alison’s death
Inspector Webb urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation, stating, “We’d ask that anyone who may have information that could be useful to the investigation, please contact us as soon as possible.” She also reassured the community that additional police patrols have been deployed in the area to enhance security and visibility.
Residents and witnesses who were in the vicinity of Redcar Road between 23.00 on September 20 and 10:45 on September 21 are especially encouraged to cooperate with the police.
