Detectives in Haringey have made a significant breakthrough in the murder investigation of Brian Edwards, a 53-year-old resident of Haringey. A 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday, September 22, on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody as the inquiry continues to unfold.
The tragic incident came to light on Tuesday, September 19, at 04:00hrs when the London Ambulance Service received reports of a stabbing in Upper Tollington Park, N4. Officers from the Metropolitan Police swiftly responded to the distressing call and discovered a man suffering from injuries at the scene.
Despite the diligent efforts of both police and paramedics, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on-site. The deceased has been identified as Brian Edwards, a resident of Haringey, and his next of kin have been notified. A post-mortem examination conducted on Wednesday, September 20, determined the cause of death to be stab injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Carberry, Specialist Crime, is leading the investigation and expressed the significance of the recent arrest in the pursuit of justice for Brian’s family. DCI Carberry also called upon the community for assistance, urging anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses information regarding the events leading to the attack on Brian to come forward. She emphasised that any information could be crucial in advancing the investigation and providing answers to Brian’s grieving family.
