Karimullah Tufan, aged 31 and a resident of Fairfield Crescent, Edgware, has been charged in connection with a disturbing rape incident that occurred in Edgware earlier this month. He has appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday, September 20.
The alleged assault unfolded in the early hours of Wednesday, September 6, around 00:40hrs, when the victim, a man in his 20s, was returning home from a night out with friends. The victim had just left Edgware underground station in Station Road when he was confronted by an unknown man.
According to the authorities, the stranger initiated a conversation with the victim before forcibly assaulting him in a nearby car park area. The victim was left traumatised by the incident and has been receiving support from specially trained officers.
In a swift response to the incident, law enforcement apprehended a suspect in Hendon on Tuesday, September 19. Subsequently, Karimullah Tufan was charged in connection with the alleged rape.
While progress has been made in this case, investigations are still ongoing.
