Detectives in Derry/Londonderry have launched an investigation following a reported shooting incident in the city on the night of Sunday, 17th September. Police were alerted to the incident shortly before 23.15 when they received a report of a man discovered injured in the vicinity of Marianus Park.
The victim, a man in his twenties, was found with gunshot wounds to both of his calves. He was quickly attended to by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
According to Detective Sergeant Ballentine, the incident involved two masked individuals who are reported to have carried out the attack. Detectives from the Strand Road Criminal Investigation Branch are actively working to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting. They are seeking information from witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the incident.
In particular, investigators are keen to hear from individuals who were in the vicinity at the time the injured man was discovered, as they may have witnessed the incident or observed any suspicious activity.
