Five Israeli tourists will face trial next month for the alleged gang rape of a young British woman in the popular Cyprus holiday resort of Ayia Napa, as ruled by a court on Monday.
The accused men, aged between 19 and 20, are set to appear before a criminal court on October 5, following charges including rape, sexual coercion, forced sexual intercourse, sexual harassment, abduction, and indecent assault against the woman.
The five individuals have been in police custody since September 4 after a 20-year-old British tourist reported being gang-raped the previous day in a hotel room.
On Tuesday, the court will decide whether to grant a prosecution request for the defendants to remain in police custody until the trial date or to release them on conditional bail.
