In a bid to bring a prolific fraud suspect to justice, authorities are appealing to the public for information to help locate 30-year-old Ray Lee, who has been unlawfully at large since August. Lee, facing charges related to numerous fraud offences, is believed to be the ringleader of an organised crime gang targeting elderly and vulnerable individuals in a series of fraudulent schemes.
Ray Lee’s legal troubles began in May 2021 when he was charged by police in connection with a string of fraud offences. Currently, he is awaiting trial in custody. However, his alleged involvement in a crime spree involving over 40 victims, resulting in losses exceeding £200,000, has raised serious concerns.
The modus operandi of Lee’s gang was particularly insidious, as they purported to be police officers to deceive their victims into surrendering cash and valuable jewellery. These fraudulent activities left a trail of victims, many of whom were elderly and vulnerable individuals who fell prey to the gang’s deceit.
Ray Lee is described as approximately 5’9″ tall, with a slim build, brown eyes, and brown hair. Despite being on remand and awaiting trial, Lee was granted compassionate bail to attend a funeral in Dublin in August. However, he failed to return to HMP Maghaberry, as required, on Thursday, August 24, prompting authorities to launch a manhunt.
Law enforcement agencies are now urging Ray Lee to surrender himself to the authorities. They are also reaching out to anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts to come forward and assist in his apprehension. If you have any information related to this case or the location of Ray Lee, you are encouraged to contact the police by dialling 101.
