Surrey Police have announced that three individuals have been charged with the murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif. The Crown Prosecution Service has given authorisation for these charges to proceed. The accused include Sara’s father, Urfan Sharif, aged 41, his partner Beinash Batool, aged 29, and his brother Faisal Malik, aged 28, all residing on Hammond Road in Woking.
In addition to the murder charges, all three individuals have also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child. They are set to appear before magistrates in Guildford today.
The arrests took place on Wednesday evening at Gatwick Airport as the trio disembarked from a flight originating in Dubai. These developments followed the grim discovery of Sara’s body in her Woking home on 10 August.
Sara’s mother has been notified of the latest developments and is receiving support from specialised officers during this challenging time.
The individuals in question had traveled to Pakistan just a day before the police found Sara’s lifeless body. Accompanying them were five of Sara’s siblings, aged between one and 13 years old. A post-mortem examination revealed that Sara had endured “multiple and extensive injuries” over an extended period. The case has attracted widespread attention and concern, as the legal proceedings move forward.
