A father and son duo from Freshwater Close, Great Sankey, Warrington, have been sentenced to a combined total of more than 10 years in prison for multiple sexual offences against two young girls.
Lee Brown, 21, and Terrence Brown, 60, faced a reckoning for their abhorrent actions as they were handed down sentences at Liverpool Crown Court. Lee Brown had previously been sentenced to four years and four months on 3 May 2023 after pleading guilty to eight counts of sexual assault against the two girls. These charges included multiple counts of oral rape and coercing the victims to engage in inappropriate touching.
Terrence Brown, following a four-day trial at Liverpool Crown Court, received a sentence of six years and six months on Friday, 8 September. He was found guilty of 11 counts of sexual offences, which included inappropriately touching the two girls and exposing one of them to cartoon pornography.
The case came to light on 3 September 2021 when police received reports of Terrence’s sexual abuse of the two girls in Warrington, spanning from 2017 to 2021. During the course of the investigation, the victims revealed that Terrence’s son, Lee, had also sexually assaulted them between 2017 and 2018. It is important to note that the two perpetrators were not aware of each other’s crimes.
In interviews with authorities, Terrence adamantly denied all allegations of sexual touching, while his son Lee admitted to abusing the girls, citing curiosity as his motivation.
Detective Constable Irene Cadman, who led the investigation into Lee, expressed her sentiments following the conclusion of the case, saying, “This is a horrific situation in which two young girls were subjected to horrendous abuse on separate occasions by a father and son. I would like to recognise the bravery of the victims who, in the case of Terrence, were put through the stress of a trial after he failed to show accountability for his actions. Now, both Lee and Terrence are facing time behind bars, and I hope the conclusion of this case helps bring some closure for the victims.”
Detective Constable Cameron Mackay, who led the investigation into Terrence, echoed these sentiments, stating, “I welcome the sentences handed to Lee and Terrence, which are reflective of their actions against the victims. Again, I would like to recognize the bravery that the victims have shown, and I hope that this case encourages other victims of sexual offences to come forward. We treat all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously, and we will always do our best to ensure offenders are brought to justice.”
