The Metropolitan Police have focused their efforts on the Chiswick area in west London in the pursuit of the escaped terror suspect, Daniel Khalife, following confirmed sightings overnight.
In response to calls from concerned members of the public, armed police officers have been dispatched to Chiswick to conduct an extensive search operation. Police dogs have also been deployed to aid in the search effort.
Officers have taken a comprehensive approach, including vehicle checks, searches of car trunks, and requests for residents to provide identification. Additionally, a police boat has been patrolling the River Thames in close proximity to the area.
Law enforcement authorities remain vigilant in the area, conducting intensive searches throughout the day. Khalife, 21 years old, is believed to be dressed in a black baseball cap, a black t-shirt, dark-coloured trousers, and carrying a small bag or case.
The Metropolitan Police issued a statement urging the public in the vicinity to stay vigilant and to immediately call 999 if they spot Khalife or possess any information that could assist in the search. While advising against approaching Khalife, authorities have emphasised that he does not pose an immediate threat to the wider public.
This nationwide manhunt has now entered its fourth day after Khalife, a former soldier, made his daring escape from Wandsworth Prison on Wednesday morning. He managed to flee by clinging to straps underneath a food delivery lorry, disguising himself in a cook’s uniform.
In a plea to her son, Khalife’s family urged him to surrender and end the ordeal. Scotland Yard disclosed on Friday that there was a confirmed sighting of Khalife, occurring shortly after his escape. Detectives have also been meticulously searching Richmond Park in southwest London for any signs of the fugitive, as they continue their relentless pursuit.
