Officers were able to establish a definitive link to the defendants after diligent CCTV inquiries when specific items of clothing – in both cases a jacket – were recovered from their homes. Kieran Morgan, 23, of Berger Road, E9, and Daniel Onyewuenyi, 30, of Forest Grove, E8, were sentenced on Monday, 9 January, at Wood Green Crown Court, following an incident on 19 April 2022 that injured three men. They were sentenced to more than 13 years in prison. Morgan and Onyewuenyi had gone to an event at the Scala in Pentonville Road, Islington, that night. Following the performance, a large crowd gathered outside. As the defendants were leaving the venue around 05:20hrs, they got into a fight with a group of men they didn’t know. During the argument, Morgan pulled a knife from his waistband and stabbed two of the men in the head and chest. Onyewuenyi stabbed the third person in the thigh. The suspects then fled the scene. Met officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics responded to the scene and treated the victims, all of whom were in their twenties, before transporting them to the hospital. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt. Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command launched an investigation, conducting a meticulous trawl of CCTV footage. They were able to identify the previously unknown suspects as a result of their efforts. Captured images of the pair were shared with colleagues, and observant officers recognised them as Morgan and Onyewuenyi. Morgan was arrested and taken into custody on May 10. Officers discovered a black puffer jacket identical to the one he was wearing in the CCTV images on his property’s balcony. Morgan was charged and later admitted to two counts of wounding with intent and an offence of GBH related to the same incident after a no-comment interview. He also pleaded guilty to threatening a female acquaintance with a knife in a public place, an incident that occurred just days before. He was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison. Onyewuenyi was apprehended on May 25. A search of his property yielded the jacket worn by the second suspect, who was captured on CCTV the night of the attack.
