Kent Fire And Rescue Service Was Called To Herne Bay Pier To Help A Man Who Had Become Stuck In Mud Up To His Knees While Walking On The Beach At Low Tide

Two fire engines and the Coastguard responded, and inflatable mud paths were used to reach and rescue the man.

Following this rescue, firefighters are urging people to exercise caution when walking on beaches at low tide, to avoid areas of sinking mud, and to be aware of tide times in order to avoid being cut off from the shore.
