On Monday, January 9, 2023, officers from Medway’s Community Policing Team were on routine patrol when they noticed a car. A quick vehicle check revealed that the car was being driven without insurance, so they asked the driver to pull over. The motorist, however, continued to drive and was pursued by police at a safe distance before colliding in Princes Avenue at around 12.45pm. Following the collision, the driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee, but officers pursued him on foot and apprehended him on Emily Road. He was later arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, failing to stop after a collision, and driving without insurance. The suspect was later released on bail and ordered to return to the police station on Monday, April 10.
