A night of violence unfolded in Hartford, Connecticut, as three people lost their lives, and one individual sustained injuries in two separate shootings overnight. The first shooting brought officers to Wethersfield Avenue at approximately 12.30am following a ShotSpotter activation that detected numerous rounds fired. At the scene, police discovered an unresponsive man in his 20s, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead. His identity has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
While investigating the initial shooting, authorities received information about another man with multiple gunshot wounds who had arrived at a local hospital via a private vehicle. Fortunately, this individual’s injuries were assessed as non-life threatening.
Investigators are actively pursuing leads in the case and have obtained valuable video footage to assist with the ongoing investigation into the Wethersfield Avenue shooting.
Shortly before 2am another tragic shooting occurred on Sterling Street, prompting a second call to law enforcement. Again, ShotSpotter technology alerted officers to the incident, and upon arriving at the scene, they discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds on the porch area of a building.
Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, and the identity remains undisclosed at this time. The second victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital, but tragically, their injuries proved fatal, and they were pronounced dead as well. Their identity, too, has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
In the Sterling Street shooting, authorities believe that three shooters were involved in an ambush-style attack. The evidence suggests that it was a targeted and deliberate act of violence.
While both shootings occurred in close proximity, police do not believe the incidents are related at this stage. Nevertheless, the investigations into each case are described as complicated and ongoing, with authorities working tirelessly to unravel the circumstances and bring those responsible to justice.
