Gary Way, aged 39, of No Fixed Abode, was today sentenced to two years for a burglary on Rolston Way in Hull on 18 June 2022, where electronic and gaming equipment and cash were stolen.
Way broke into the house on Rolston Way in the middle of the night while the owner slept upstairs. The owner noticed the damaged patio door and missing items when he awoke and checked his CCTV. The CCTV had captured a man breaking into the house and taking the items.
Officers investigating the burglary issued a press release with the image of the suspect. He was swiftly identified, arrested, and charged with the offence of burglary.
Speaking after sentencing Detective Sergeant Downs said, “Burglary is an extremely intrusive crime, leaving victims feeling fearful in their own homes.
“We were pleased to be able to secure the CCTV evidence which led to the arrest and subsequent charge and remand of Way.
“I hope that the time spent in jail will provide Gary Way to reflect on his offence and lifestyle and that this outcome will provide the victim with the knowledge that Way cannot commit any further offences while he serves his prison sentence.”
