Israel’s military has conducted air raids on the Jenin refugee camp in the northern occupied West Bank, resulting in the death of at least four Palestinians and causing significant damage to buildings and infrastructure, according to residents and officials. The attacks involved multiple air strikes and a ground military operation with armored vehicles. A fifth Palestinian was also killed in a separate incident at the northern entrance to the city of Ramallah. The injured count stands at 27, with eight individuals in critical condition.
The Israeli army has enforced a siege on the camp, sealing off all entrances with tractors. Around 1,000 soldiers, including elite special forces, as well as police and border police, are reportedly participating in the operation. Homes are being raided, searched, and individuals arrested. The Palestinian Authority’s foreign ministry has condemned the aggression and called for urgent international intervention to halt the attacks. It also urged the International Criminal Court to hold Israeli war criminals accountable.
Residents have described the situation as a “real war,” with live ammunition being fired into homes and ambulances being targeted. The bombings from the air and the ground invasion have caused widespread destruction and smoke is rising from various locations within the camp. The Palestinian Red Crescent has reported multiple casualties and has been transporting injured individuals to hospitals.
