Two Arrested Following Drugs Raid in Basingstoke

Officers have arrested and charged a man following an operation to disrupt the supply of Class A drugs in Basingstoke. Akeem Durowoju, 21, of no fixed abode, has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A. He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday 26 April). A 34-year-old woman from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and concerned in the supply of a controlled drug of Class B. She has been released from custody but remains under investigation. As part of the operation, officers carried out four warrants in the Buckskin, Eastrop and South Ham areas of the town on Tuesday 25 April. Suspected Class A drugs, cash and drugs paraphernalia were also seized. The day of action was part of Operation Fortress, Hampshire Constabulary’s campaign to reduce the harm of drug-related violence. One of the aims is to restrict the supply of Class A drugs. Inspector Ben Taylor said: “Class A drugs like crack cocaine and heroin do tremendous harm to the people whose lives are blighted by addiction. “We are determined to identify drug networks that operate in Basingstoke and will continue to disrupt the activities of dealers.” If you have concerns about drug-related activity in your area, please call police on 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.
