Death-Defying Overtake Ends in Disaster
Witnesses say White overtook another car at breakneck speed, narrowly missing a head-on collision before losing control and smashing into a tree. Two passengers and White himself scrambled out and bolted across nearby fields.
Manhunt and Heartbreak
- One passenger was found nearby.
- White and another survivor were caught hiding in a garden shed, thanks to a police dog.
- Tragically, Ellie Ogden-Hooper, 19, and Reece White, 23, died instantly at the scene.
Investigations revealed White was driving illegally on a provisional licence, in a car with no MOT or insurance, and using cloned number plates. Tests also found he was over the legal cannabis limit.
Justice Served: Jail and Driving Ban
White, from Wallis Drive, Leighton Buzzard" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Leighton Buzzard, admitted to two counts of causing death and two of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. St Albans Crown Court handed down a six-year prison sentence. On top of that, he faces a nine-year driving ban after release.
