Rooftop Siege Sparks Hours-Long Police Negotiation
The chaos began late Thursday night when cops arrived at an Eastbourne address to detain a suspect linked to an assault in Crowborough. But two men swiftly climbed onto the roof of a building on Green Street, triggering a prolonged standoff that lasted into the afternoon.
Specialist negotiators were called in and maintained contact through the ordeal. After hours of tense talks, the pair finally climbed down around 3pm Friday, ending the rooftop siege peacefully.
Suspects Face Multiple Serious Charges
- A 29-year-old Crowborough man has been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm, criminal damage, obstructing police, and two counts of theft.
- A 20-year-old Eastbourne man faces charges including actual bodily harm, criminal damage, obstruction of police, and motor vehicle theft.
- A 54-year-old Eastbourne woman was also arrested on suspicion of obstructing police during the incident.
All three remain in police custody as investigations continue.
