Gun Fired in Aylesbury Car Clash Leaves Man Fighting for Life

Gunfire erupted in Aylesbury on Friday night, sparking chaos and a critical assault that has police hunting for suspects.

Shots Fired in Church Square

At around 10:15pm on May 24, cops were called to Church Square after reports a firearm was fired from one car towards another. The first vehicle, believed to hold three people, opened fire on a lone occupant in the second car. Miraculously, no one was hurt by the gunfire.

Crash and Violent Assault in Hampden Gardens

Both cars sped off but soon smashed into each other in nearby Hampden Gardens. Following the collision, a 26-year-old man was viciously assaulted. He was rushed to hospital with critical injuries and remains there now fighting for his life.

Police Search for Weapon and Suspects

  • The firearm hasn’t been linked to the assault but officers are hunting for it.
  • A 54-year-old man has been arrested over attempted murder and is in custody.
  • Police want to identify two other people believed to have been in one of the vehicles.

Road closures remain in place around Church Square, Hampden Gardens, 1 Avenue, Carrington Road, and Chaloner Road as police scour the scene.

“We have been conducting a thorough investigation into this incident and have made an arrest in connection with it,” said Inspector Andrew Alexander of Aylesbury police.

“Anyone with information or who saw a silver BMW 330i or silver Nissan Almera in the area before the incident should call 101 quoting URN 1618 24/5.”

Superintendent Tim Metcalfe reassured the public: “We believe these incidents are linked and there is no threat to the wider public. Police presence will be stepped up while the inquiry continues.”
