Wiltshire Police Smash Drug Dealers in Big Weekend Raids
Wiltshire Police have hit drug dealers hard with four major warrants across Chippenham, Trowbridge, Devizes, and Swindon. Armed with key tips from the local community, officers made five arrests and seized drugs and cash valued at around £6,000.
Five Arrested in Class A Drugs Crackdown
- A 31-year-old man from Trowbridge and a 29-year-old man from Surrey were arrested for possession with intent to supply class A drugs. Both have been released under investigation.
- An 18-year-old woman from Chippenham was arrested on suspicion of involvement in class A drug supply and also released under investigation.
- Two men aged 18 and 19 from Leeds were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in supplying class A drugs and bailed pending further enquiries.
Officers also recovered £2,000 in cash and class A drugs worth an estimated £4,000 on the street.
Operation Scorpion Tightens the Noose on Drug Networks
These warrants were part of Operation Scorpion, the South West’s largest coordinated push against drug crime. Covering Wiltshire, Avon and Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, Dorset, and Gloucestershire, the operation teams up police forces, Crime Commissioners, British Transport Police, Crimestoppers, and the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SW ROCU).
The goal? To dismantle drug supply chains and send a brutal message: there’s no room for dealers in Wiltshire and the South West.
Patrols Target Nightlife to Curb Drug Culture
Wiltshire Police didn’t just stop at raids. Officers patrolled Swindon’s pubs and clubs on Friday and Saturday nights, aiming to educate the public on the dangers of drug use while cracking down on dealers exploiting the night-time economy.
“This was a successful weekend targeting the drug supply networks across Wiltshire,” said Det Insp Darren Ambrose. “Thanks to local communities for their vital intelligence. Drugs cause harm, not just to users but to entire communities, bringing violence, robbery, and anti-social behaviour.”
He added: “Operation Scorpion isn’t just about disruption, it’s about education. Drugs can destroy your relationships, job, home, and reputation. We’ll stop at nothing to make Wiltshire and the South West drug-free.”
Wiltshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson said: “Wiltshire and the South West are simply no place for drugs. This weekend’s coordinated raids and police activity send a loud and clear message to dealers and users alike.”
“Taking drugs on a night out isn’t harmless fun—that’s why Operation Scorpion focused on the night time economy this time,” he added.
