Matt Lucas Waves Goodbye to Bake Off After Three Years
Farewell Bake Off! Matt Lucas has announced he’s stepping down from the show after three series and 51 episodes. The comedian admitted juggling Fantasy Football League, Bake Off, and other projects was just too much.
Passing the Baguette
Matt thanked everyone involved, including judges Paul hollywood/" title="Hollywood" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Hollywood, Prue Leith, Noel Fielding, and production teams. He said,
“It’s been a fantastic experience, and I can’t think of a more enjoyable way to spend my summers.”
He added,
“So, after three series and 51 episodes, I am cheerfully passing the baguette on to someone else.”
Who Will Replace Matt?
The Bake Off faithful still don’t know who will step into Matt’s wellie boots. The show’s presenting history includes Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins for the first seven series. When Bake Off moved from BBC to Channel 4, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig took over for series eight to ten. Then Matt replaced Sandi for three seasons.

Matt signed off warmly:
“I wish whoever takes over the best of luck, and I can’t wait to watch the next series without knowing who won!”
Bake Off fans will be keen to see who’s next in the iconic tent.
