Man Found Dead in Andover: Police Launch Murder Probe and Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
Detectives are hunting for answers after a man was found seriously injured in Andover and later died. Police made an arrest but are desperate for witnesses to come forward.
Tragedy Strikes in Early Hours
Just before 1am on Friday, 13 April, officers were called to Cricketers Way, Andover, where a 28-year-old man from London was discovered injured. He was rushed to Southampton General Hospital but sadly died on arrival.
Detectives say they are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the death. The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Chivers urged anyone who was in the area or saw anything suspicious to come forward. He said:
“Our investigations into what happened in the early hours are ongoing. Residents in Andover will notice increased police activity throughout the weekend. We will be carrying out house-to-house enquiries and a thorough search of the scene.
“We believe there are still people who saw or know something but haven’t spoken to us yet. If that’s you, please get in touch.”
Community Reassured Amid Heightened Police Presence
Chief Inspector Kory Thorne reassured locals the situation is being taken very seriously. He said:
“We know this is unsettling for the community. It’s rare for something like this to happen here. Our neighbourhood officers are working closely with detectives to leave no stone unturned in this investigation.
“We will have extra officers around town today, so if you have any concerns—or information that might help—please talk to them.”
Arrest Made, But Enquiries Continue
A 37-year-old man from Andover has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
