Shanklin Woman Avoids Jail After Stabbing Husband in Heated Row
A Shanklin supermarket worker escaped immediate prison after stabbing her partner during a booze-fuelled domestic spat on the Isle of Wight.
Joanne Wraxton’s Suspended Sentence
Joanne Wraxton, 49, of 1 Lane, Shanklin, pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding her husband without intent. She was sentenced at Island Crown Court last Friday to eight months in prison — but the term was suspended for 12 months.
Dramatic Domestic Dispute
The chilling incident happened last December when emergency crews were called to the Wraxton family home. Joanne herself rang 999 to confess she had stabbed her husband in the arm during a heated row.
Paramedics found Mr Wraxton unconscious on the floor. Police reports reveal he claimed the stabbing was an accident after Joanne lunged forward with a kitchen knife during their argument.
Still Together Despite Violence
Remarkably, the couple remain in a “loving relationship” despite the attack. Judge Hill accepted Joanne had “lost control” during their drunken argument and decided a suspended sentence was appropriate.
