Stabbing Gang Busted: 11 Years for Knife Attack and Drug Crimes
Jayvarn Booth, 20, has been locked up for 11-and-a-half years after pleading guilty to stabbing a man in the neck, carrying an offensive weapon, and plotting to supply Class A drugs. His accomplice, Teelan Rock, 21, landed six years behind bars for helping Booth escape, conspiring to supply drugs, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Brutal Stabbing Outside Mansfield Home
The violent attack happened on 14 June 2020 outside a property on Kitchener Drive, Mansfield. Booth, formerly of Pippin Close, St Ann’s, stabbed the victim in the neck, leaving him with life-threatening injuries that required emergency surgery. Thankfully, the victim later made a recovery and was discharged from hospital.
Accomplice Aids Escape and Covers Tracks
Rock, once from Coppice Road, Arnold, was at the scene during the stabbing. He drove Booth away and helped dispose of the getaway vehicle. Both men were caught plotting to supply Class A drugs in the days surrounding the attack, linked to a phone number used in county lines drug dealing.
In a desperate bid to avoid justice, Rock paid someone to call a witness, offering money and drugs to claim he wasn’t there during the stabbing. This saw him convicted of perverting the course of justice between 25 and 30 June 2020.
Police Crack Down on Knife Crime and County Lines
“I hope these sentences show how seriously Nottinghamshire Police takes knife and drug-related crime in our communities,” said Detective Sergeant Mark Shaw.
“Violence and weapon-enabled crime will not be tolerated. We will be relentless in pursuing offenders and bringing them to justice. Community intelligence is vital. We’re committed to protecting vulnerable individuals and working closely with local teams to disrupt these criminals.”
