Man Dies After Brutal Stabbing in Tongham Underpass
A 37-year-old man has tragically died following a vicious stabbing on Friday, 15 October. Officers from Surrey and Sussex’s Major Crime Team are on the case after the victim succumbed to his injuries yesterday, 27 October.
Attack Near The Moors, Tongham
The stabbing unfolded near the underpass of the A331, close to The Moors and later near the Cricketers pub, just after 9pm. Police believe several people in the area may have witnessed the attack. They’re urging anyone who passed through The Moors between Oxenden Road, Tongham and Tongham Road/Willow Way in Aldershot from 8:30pm to 9:30pm that evening to come forward.
Suspects Arrested – Investigation Ongoing
- A 23-year-old man from Aldershot
- A 30-year-old man from Aldershot
- A 16-year-old boy from Aldershot
All three were initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and later released on bail. However, the 16-year-old was re-arrested today on suspicion of murder.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“This was a shocking and senseless attack which has understandably shocked the local community and the wider public,” said Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Gareth Hicks. “We have a dedicated team working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice. We believe there are witnesses who haven’t yet come forward and urge anyone with information to get in touch.”
“At this stage, we believe the victim and suspects knew each other and there is no risk to the wider public. The victim’s family is being supported by specially trained officers and asks for privacy during this difficult time.”
