Bottarelli didn’t stop there. He stabbed another colleague, Gideon Tesfay, in the neck with a scalpel and tried to attack a third man, Mark Quigley. The violence forced the hospital to be evacuated while armed police swooped and arrested Bottarelli.
Denials Crumble – Jury Convicts Bottarelli
At Wood Green Crown Court, Bottarelli pleaded guilty to lesser charges, but the CPS refused and pushed for attempted murder charges. Despite his denials, the jury convicted him of attempted murder of Mr. MacGuire and Mr. Tesfay, as well as grievous bodily harm and possession of offensive weapons.
Victims Speak Out After Verdict
“There are many things that I cannot do as a result of the injuries caused by this attack. So many things have been taken away from me and my family, but I try not to dwell on them too much,” said Trevor MacGuire, thanking the Metropolitan Police for their support.
His wife, Dawn MacGuire, spoke of the lasting trauma and heartbreak caused by Bottarelli’s refusal to show remorse, highlighting the ongoing toll on their family.
Weapons Stockpile Discovered
The court revealed that police found a stash of knives and scalpels at Bottarelli’s home in Central Way, Brent, alongside the pickaxe used in the attack.
Sentencing Set for April 30
Bottarelli faces sentencing at Wood Green Crown Court on April 30, as victims and families await justice.
Matthew Claxson, representing Mr. MacGuire, called the attack “tragic,” underlining the permanent physical and emotional scars. He said sentencing will bring some closure to the shattered MacGuire family.
