Man Arrested After Woman Fatally Stabbed in East London

Deadly Stabbing in Tower Hamlets

A man in his 20s was arrested after a woman in her 40s was fatally stabbed in a residential building on Monier Road, Tower Hamlets late Thursday night. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene at 11:01pm on 26 June following reports of a stabbing.

Despite desperate efforts by medics, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist family liaison officers.

Suspect Held as Homicide Investigation Launches

The arrested man, believed to be known to the victim, remains in police custody on suspicion of murder. The Met’s Specialist Crime Command has launched a full homicide investigation.

Police Reassure Community Amid Shock

Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney, who leads policing in Tower Hamlets, said:

“We are supporting the family of the woman killed in this tragic incident. We understand the local community will be shocked, but we believe this is an isolated incident posing no wider threat to the public.

Although an arrest has been made, our investigation continues to uncover exactly what happened. Residents may notice an increased police presence today. Anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to officers.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Officers are urgently asking anyone who was in the Monier Road area on the evening of 26 June, or anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, to come forward.
