Police were called just before 7pm on Tuesday, April 14, following a devastating collision involving a pedestrian and a car between Sanford Street and Knoyle Street.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and initially fled the scene. However, on April 15, a woman in her 50s and two men in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. All three remain in police custody as inquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Glen Mera of the Metropolitan Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said, “Our thoughts remain with the young woman’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time. We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.”
